This family run restaurant is right across the street from Kenchoji Temple. If you want to experience Buddhist vegetarian temple food, Kamakura has many options. We wanted to try this place since it was convenient after a morning of visiting temples. And I am glad we came! The noodle dishes in the photo are homemade soba and udon with tofu, miso, and vegetables. The bottom right is a rice bowl dish for the little one in case she didn’t want any of our noodles. She ended up eating all our tofu and some noodles. The kind shop owner had to give us more tofu on the house! I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to experience an authentic temple vegetarian cuisine with simple lunch options. It was especially nice to slurp down hot food on a cold winter day. The day we went it was snowing!
