Birds & the Beets, Gastown, Vancouver

Nestled in the heart of Gastown, Vancouver is a coffee shop serving sandwiches. When you walk into Birds & the Beets, you smell the aroma of flowers. The wall of flowers stimulates your senses even before you order your coffee. It is a nice touch to the interior design. I am always attracted to colourful and visually stimulating designs when I walk into a store.

We ordered 2 lattes, the pork sandwich and the fish sandwich which was tuna tataki that day.  It reminded me of the Vietnamese Banh mi. The first bite was an explosion of fusion flavours. For dessert, we ordered the French pastry, Madeleine, a shell shaped sponge cake with a bit of lemon zest. Do you ever look at your own photos and get hungry?
