The Golden Triangle

The intersection of Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand. It is where the Mekong and Ruak rivers converge. I remember hiring a car from Chiang Rai to get here. It must have been around 2 hours by car. If you google it now, it says an hour but I remember it being much longer. It was a very difficult trip best done without young kids. There is a temple nearby to visit but not much around the area. There is also a ship with a big Buddha for photos. The Opium Museum is worth going to. We ate at a restaurant along the Mekong River that our guide arranged in advance. Ask me to go again? It was a difficult place to get to. I probably wouldn’t choose to go more than once!
